4' by 6' Acrylic and Spackle on Canvas. This work was all about mapping meaning. After choosing one of the 7 deadly sins, I began to explore my personal definition of the word Gluttony. To me - Gluttony feels very heavy, excessive, over-indulgent, and saturated; so I created a collage to express these ideas. Once I had the collage, I began to extract colors, shapes and ideas so that I could create an Abstract composition. I wanted this piece to be texturally driven to visually communicate my definition of gluttony so I chose to use spackle as a medium of expression. Through My final work I sought to express the kind of overwhelming urge to overindulge that it is unstoppable, insatiable and overpowering; so much so that you have to give in.
